Obituary

Michael Dean Morris, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 15, 2026, at Jackson General Hospital. Born on December 2, 1954, Michael’s 71 years were marked by unwavering devotion to family, kindness to all who knew him, and a life well-lived in the company of those he cherished.

Michael’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He is survived by his devoted children: his daughter Amber Morris Stout (Kyle), and his sons Caleb Morris (Krystal) and Pete Morris. He took immense pride in his grandchildren—Lucas Morris, Jaxon Morris, Randi Morris, Kaylee Dickson, Oliver Morris, Jennie Morris Bumpus, Elijah Dylan Maitland, Amberleigh Clark, Courtlyn Clark, and Gerrick River Morris—each of whom brought joy and meaning to his days. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Brynnleigh Dickson, Serenity Fitzpatrick, and Maggie Bumpus, who brought an extra sparkle to his later years. Michael will also be fondly remembered by his niece, Dana Petty Smith, whose presence and affection were a constant source of comfort.

Michael’s heart held special places for those who have gone before him, including his beloved wife, Charlotte Morris. The loss of Charlotte was deeply felt, and now they are reunited. He was predeceased by his father, Jesse Morris, his mother, Iva Meggs Morris, and his sister, Shelia Petty, each of whom shaped and inspired his journey in their own unique ways.

Michael Dean Morris’s absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. Yet, as we honor his memory, we find solace in the countless cherished moments that defined his life and the bonds that endure beyond his physical presence. His family and friends will forever hold him close in their hearts, grateful for his love, his steadfastness, and the example of a life lived with deep compassion, integrity, and care.
