Mildred Louise Asher, 89, of Milan, went to be with her Lord and Savior July 28, 2020 after a long illness.
Mildred was born to Samuel Odis Darnell and Gladys Bradberry Darnell on July 25, 1931 at Fort Benning, Georgia while her father was stationed there. After his service the family moved back to Dresden, TN. There she had two sisters, Martha Joyce and Madge.
She graduated from Dresden High School and became the first woman City Recorder for Dresden, TN after filling an unexpired term from a previous Recorder. She later married Tommy Asher. They moved to Milan, TN in 1967 where she worked as a bookkeeper for their business, All-Jersey Milk Co. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Todd Paving Co. where she retired.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she belonged to the Charity Sunday School Class. Her greatest joy was in church and ministering to others through encouragement and prayer. She loved the Lord, her family, and her church. She raised her son, Charles and daughter Pam to follow God and be faithful to His Word and she taught this by example.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy Asher, and her sister, Martha Joyce Roberts.
Mildred is survived by her son, Charles (Amy) Asher, and her daughter, Pam Asher; grandson, Chris (Meagan) Asher; granddaughter, Lauren Asher; and one great grandson, Clark Asher; and her beloved sister, Madge Darnell Winstead.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 1 pm at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the Milan First Baptist Church Building Fund.
