Muriel Gene Hicks, age 87 of Lavinia, passed away on August 2, 2023 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Hicks will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11 AM at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Hopewell Cemetery in Lavinia. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening from 5 8 PM at the funeral home. He was born on September 19, 1935 to Melton Roy and Hassie Grey Hamilton Hicks in Lexington. He married Bobbie DePriest and for the next sixty-five years lived a life of love and happiness. Muriel retired as a dry wall worker with Delta Drywall and he was a member of the Lavinia Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Bobbie Hicks of Lavinia, a son Steven Hicks of Lavinia, two daughters Phyllis Morris (Donald) of Atwood and Cynthia Cole of Medina, a brother Bobby Jack Hicks (JoAnn) of Lavinia, one sister Susan Coward (Tommy) of DeSoto, MS, five grandchildren Anthony Morris, Dusty Morris, Eden McNeely, Elyse Hunt and Sam Hicks, twelve great grandchildren MiKayla Morris, Dawson Morris, Carson Morris, Conner Morris, Christy Morris, Tyler Vandiver, Alex Vandiver, Lauren Vandiver, Lexie Morris, Carter Reese, Madeline McNeely and Kypton McNeely and one great-great granddaughter Ellie Leatherwood. Besides his parents, Muriel was preceded in death a son Bradley Hicks, a brother Ronnie Lee Hicks and two sisters Peggy McDowell and Donna Thomas.
