Obituary

Norma Lynn Taylor Warren Robbins passed away on April 25, 2019, at Northbrooke Healthcare in Jackson. She was the youngest of two children born to Norman Carney Taylor and Onie Farris Blankenship Taylor on March 2, 1934, in Gibson County, TN. Mrs. Robbins was a lifetime resident of Gibson County, TN and a longtime employee of ITT in Milan having served as Switchboard Operator and later worked as a Secretary for the Milan Street Department from which she retired. Her musical talent led her to play the piano for the First Assembly of God Church in Milan, Christ New Beginnings Church, and the Songsters Quartet and Songsters Trio to name a few. She held membership in Christ New Beginnings Church. Norma enjoyed competing in the Ms. Senior Tennessee Competition in 1995 and won Ms. Northwest Senior America Queen. She also took honors as the 1995 Senior Tennessee Talent Winner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Onie, and her brother, Richard Adrian Taylor, who was tragically killed in an auto accident in 1942. Norma also suffered the loss of her oldest son, Edward Taylor Voorhies, in 2006 and her daughter-in-law, Kimberly D. Mewbourn Warren, in 2013. Her husband, Sammy Ray Robbins, also preceded her in death in 2000, and her caregiver and friend, Essie Mae Clark Donald, preceded her in 2015. Survivors include her son, Dale Warren and his fiance, Cindy Deaton; her son, Eddie's former wife, Susan Dennison Gilbert, Dale's father and his wife, Darrell and Patsy Warren, and Kim's Children, Lauren Fields and Craig Fields. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2019, in the chapel of Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Double Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Milan, where Norma's parents, husband, son, and brother are interred. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan, TN. Memorials may be directed to Double Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
