Norma Jean Vawter passed away on February 26, 2016 in Memphis, TN. She was born in Milan, TN on July 17, 1932 to the parents of Floyd Lynn and Seeley Anne Moore Lowery. She attended her beloved Milan High School where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. Mrs. Vawter was a member of the Milan First United Methodist Church. She was an avid Milan Bulldogs and Lady Vols fan and over the years attended many of their games. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert Marshall Pete Vawter and a little brother Sammie Moore Buddy Lowery. She is survived by a daughter Barbara Vawter Rothrock (Dr. Perry) of Memphis, a son Robert Bobby Vawter (Janet) of Lakeland, TN,a brother Lynn Lowery II (Dale) of Germantown, her grandchildren Wendy Lawson (Richard) of Milan, Dr. Emily Joyce (Tyler) of Lewisville, NC, Katelyn Vawter of Lakeland, Jake DeFur of Seattle, WA and Andrew Vawter (Sarah) of Whidbey Island, WA, eleven great grandchildren and a niece and nephew. Funeral service for Mrs. Vawter will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1pm at the Milan First Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be held from 11am 1pm Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Milan First United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donors choice.
