Funeral service for Opal Nell Lessenberry, age 76 of Lavinia, will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 2 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lavinia. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening from 5 8 PM at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10 AM 2 PM at the funeral home. She was born on February 13, 1947 in the Gann Community to George Williams and Beulah Jenkins Hayes. Opal attended the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and she was retired from the Milan Arsenal. She is survived by two children Amanda Donahue (Paul) of Lavinia and Jerry David Lessenberry (Amanda) of Lexington, seven grandchildren Brittany Lessenberry Clinton, Bailee Lessenberry, Trevor Lessenberry, Vallie Schultz, Carlie Schultz, Ashley Coffman and Michael Lessenberry and two great-grandchildren Kylie Jo Clinton and Reece Peterson. Other than her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband Larry Lessenberry, a son Randy Lessenberry, brothers George Hayes, Jr., Henry Hayes, Thurman Hayes, Raymond Hayes, Robert Hayes, Ray Hayes, Lindell "Link" Hayes and C. B. Hayes and her sisters Rachel Smith and Ruby Rainey.
