Mr. James Warren Appleton, age 69 of Milan, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 5, 2021. He was born in Milan on September 25, 1951 to Robert & Joan Tate Appleton. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Milan High School. He also attended UTM Martin and Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, GA. He was a Licensed Local Pastor for the United Methodist Church for over 12 years. He had served eight churches in West Tennessee until his retirement in 2019 due to declining health. He previously had worked for ITT, Porter Cable and retired from the Sara Lee Corporation, apparel division in Winston Salem, NC in 2005. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Rushing Appleton, brother Bobby Appleton (Kelli) of Jackson, TN, sister, Sherry Appleton Buchanan (Gary) of Trenton, TN and his beloved dog, Rosey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Howard Appleton and sister, Debra Joan Appleton Moore. Funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Milan First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday from 12 2 PM at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a church/charity of your choice.
