Funeral services for Rita Joy Brown, age 58 of Atwood, will take place at 11:00 AM Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Belews Chapel Cemetery near Milan. Visitation with the family will take place Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Monday morning from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Rita was born in Milan on March 23, 1965, to the late J.C. Smith and Shirley Jane York Smith. She passed away on July 25, 2023, at Vanderbilt. Rita was a member of Belews Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She worked for the school system and the YMCA as a custodian. Later she worked for herself cleaning houses. Rita loved to crochet and made gifts for people regularly. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
