A memorial service for Robert Howard Hutslar, age 85 of Milan, will take place at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Milan. He passed away on December 11, 2021, at Jackson General Hospital. Bob was born in Milltown, Indiana on September 3, 1936, to the late Howard and Inez Hawkins Hutslar. Bob retired as Lieutenant Colonel from the U. S. Army after serving for 24 years and was awarded the Bronze Star for his tour of duty during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in several locations during his career. After retirement from the military, he started working for Martin Marietta and was transferred to the Milan Arsenal where he was the Ethics Representative. Bob was a huge Alabama football fan. He earned his Masters from the University of Alabama while teaching the ROTC at the university. He was a wonderful basketball player in his Indiana high school where he set records for scoring. Bob loved to play bridge with friends. He was an Elder of the Christian Church in Milan and was a faithful member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Milan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Lou Hutslar; daughters, Cynthia O'Brien of Dayton, OH, Cathy (Chris) Wiser of Lebanon, TN, and Linda (Anthony) Hutslar Goodman of Frankfort, KY; sister, Pat (Marty) Miller of Georgetown, IN; grandchildren, Sean O'Brian, Joseph O'Brien, Robert Wiser, Justin Goodman, and Jake Goodman; and three great-granddaughters. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Hutslar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Milan.
