Roberta Carole Blackwell, daughter of Mayme Usery and Robert Lee Hickman, passed away on May 10, 2025, at the Harmony of Brentwood Retirement Center in Brentwood, TN. She was 89.

Survived by her children Scott Blackwell (Sandy)of Wimberly, Texas; Susan Herron (Danny) of Nashville, Tennessee and Leslie Lynd (Ron) of Germantown, Tennessee. She was loved by six grandchildren Mary Herron, Robert Herron (Mary Lee), Samuel Lynd (Chaney), Caroline Giannakopoulos (Zach), Sarah Liebergen (Jared) and Cullen Lynd (Payton), also nine great grandchildren Gabriel, Robert, Fay, George, Copley, Charles, Henry and James. Carole is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents and her oldest great granddaughter Sophie.

Carole attended the university of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana. She majored in music and received many awards and accolades as she was a talented pianist. She was known to share her talents in the gathering room of her most recent home.

Carole was a church pianist and organist from a young age until retirement. She was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church Missouri synod and always active in music ministry as well as teaching kindergarten for a time. Carole supported many ministries including Wounded Warriors, Habitat for Humanity and Reformed University Fellowship among many others.

Carole loved ballroom dancing and enjoyed traveling and competing. She treasured the friendships she cultivated during this time. She was a diehard Alabama fan and proudly wore her Alabama gear year-round.

A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials directed to mercyknoxville.org/give.
