Samuel Paul "Tody" Hunley passed away at NHC Healthcare Milan on November 19 at the age of 94. Mr. Hunley was a long-time resident of Milan TN, born in Lavinia, TN on October 20, 1926, to Howley and Pearl Blake Hunley. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Philippines and later worked and retired from Milan Army Ammunition Plant after 25 years in the Human Resources Dept. where he was known on the lines as "Mr. Zero Defect". Tody was a long-standing member of First United Methodist Church in Milan, where he sang in the chancel choir, quartets, men's ensembles and lead the singing at revivals around the West TN area for many years. He was also a charter member of the Milan VFW and the Milan Country Club, where he loved the game of golf.
Mr. Hunley was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joan Black Hunley originally of McKenzie, TN, and 1st cousin Naomi Spellings Ogle. He is survived by his son, John Paul Hunley of Jackson TN, and cousins, Lisa Ogle (Chris) Smithey of Milan, and Billy Blake Spellings and family of Fairfax, VA.
Tody Hunley will be buried at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church cemetery in Lavinia, TN. For those wishing to attend, there will be a committal for burial at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 25 at the cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, or the Milan VFW.
