Shannon Joe Butler, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on March 7, 1969, Shannon's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for his community, and his love for the simple pleasures in life.
Shannon is survived by his loving wife, Pam Butler of Milan, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. He also leaves behind his step-mother, Shirley Butler, who played a significant role in his life. His legacy continues through his sons, Ray Franklin Butler II (Jenna) of Milan and Benjamin Riley Butler (Anna) of Milan, who will carry forward the values he instilled in them. His grandchildren, Evelyn Riley Butler, Margaret Grace Butler, Maddux Ray Butler, McLane Joe Butler, and Henry Hayes Butler, will miss their grandfather's warmth and guidance. Shannon's sisters, Lacee Galey of Milan and Kim Belew Riggs (Darren) of Medina and brother, John Belew (Angie), will cherish the memories of their brother's unwavering support and love. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Frank Butler and Betty Brown Butler, brother, Steven Butler, and sister, Teresa Climer, whose memories remain a comfort to the family.
For several years, Shannon dedicated his professional life to utility sales at G and C Supply in Atwood. His colleagues and clients respected him for his integrity and commitment to excellence in all his endeavors.
Shannon's community involvement was a testament to his belief in giving back. He served on the Cal Ripken Board for 12 years, contributing his time and energy to the growth and success of youth baseball in Milan. His commitment to local sports continued with his service on the Milan Quarterback Club for 6 years, where he was a vital supporter of the athletic programs.
Beyond his professional and community commitments, Shannon found joy in carpentry and woodworking. His hands crafted not just objects but also memories, creating pieces that would be treasured by his family and friends for years to come.
Shannon was a member of the First Baptist Church Milan. His church family knew him as a man of deep conviction, who lived his beliefs through his actions and kindness towards others.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Milan with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church and Tuesday from 11:00 AM until service time.
Memorials may be directed to Milan First Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child.
