Obituary

Sharon Kay Coleman, age 83 of Milan, passed away on January 25, 2022 at Northbrooke Healthcare in Jackson after a brief illness. She was born on April 6, 1938 to Walter and Rebecca Abernathy Taylor in Dresden. Sharon was a retired business owner of a ladies boutique in Henderson called the Out of Town Shop. She was also the long time manager of the Vincent Boot and Shoe in Milan. After retirement Sharon found her joy caring for her flowers. If you ever passed by her house the evidence of her green thumb was easily seen by the beauty of her flowers. As a pastor's wife there were many moves. Sharon took pride in making each and every house into a "HOME" for her family. Sharon was an active member of the Milan First Baptist Church. She loved and missed attending her Sunday School class "Charity" as her health declined. She is survived by three children Danny Coleman (Cindy) of Athens, TN, Debbie Burks (Ron) of Lonoke, AR and Doreen Jones (Johnny) of Milan, son in law Bob Van Meter of Charleston, IN, twelve grandchildren, Lee Maness (Bethany) of Brentwood, Julie Davis (Brad) of Milan, Jennifer Chaney (Jon) of Murfreesboro, Harris Jones of Memphis, Brittany Boyette (Jennings) of Little Rock, AR, Jordan Cordell (Matt) of Lonoke, AR, Tanner Burks of Fayetteville, AR, Jessie Conaty (Adam) of Louisville, KY, Janna Coleman of Evansville, IN, Josh Coleman (Morgan) of Louisville, KY, Rachel McClellan (Anthony) of Ringgold, GA, and Rebecca Brown (Jeremiah) of Fishers, IN, twenty one great grandchildren and special friend and caregiver Patsy Hicks. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bro. Bill Coleman, a daughter Dianna Van Meter and her brother Michael Taylor. Funeral service for Ms. Coleman will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Because of the ongoing Covid pandemic, the family has chosen that all visitation and funeral services for Ms. Coleman will be private. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Milan First Baptist Church. Bodkin Funeral Home 731-686-3111
