Obituary

Sherrie Lee Engler, age 59, passed away on March 3, 2022. A 1979 high school graduate from Jacksonville, Illinois, Sherrie received her Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design from Arkansas State in 1983. She was a sister of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity in college. After graduation, Sherrie worked as a photographer and freelance graphic designer for several businesses in Tennessee; and in 1987, she gave birth to her beautiful daughter Chelsey. Over the next few years, Sherrie adored being a stay-at-home mom and participating in local pageants with Chelsey in tow. By 1992, Sherrie became the middle school art teacher at University School of Jackson, Tennessee. And in 1996, Sherrie married the love of her life Eric Engler in Havre, Montana. From then on, Sherrie knew she had found the one who would always support her and show unconditional love to her and her daughter. Sherries talents were many. She was an extremely accomplished artist and bowler, an outstanding cook, avid gardener, proficient seamstress, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a love for all things outdoors, including fishing, hunting for arrowheads on her grandfathers farm in Paducah, KY, metal detecting, geocaching, and taking care of her ever growing flock of chickens and peacocks. An entrepreneur at heart, Sherrie created her own business (Headed West Studio) selling her artwork online throughout the years. With a concentration on horses, she completed multiple drawings involving the Triple Crown Horse Race winners. Likewise, Sherrie worked many years creating over 200 equine illustrations for three books, including Equine Photos & Drawings for Conformation & Anatomy by Juliet Hedge and Adventures of Vet Practice: True Horse Stories by Theresa Jones and Steven Miller. The first published in 1999, sold out 4 hard-back editions before being produced in paperback. Another source of pride for Sherrie was her love for animals of all kinds. There was never a day that Sherrie would turn away a stray. She fostered countless numbers of dogs and cats that eventually found their way to Sherrie and Erics country home. Over the years, she developed relationships with many local animal shelters. Because of Sherries love, many animals that came across her path found their forever homes. Since 2016, Sherries favorite name to be called was "Grammy" by her only grandchild Liam. She cherished their quality time spent together, chatting and hearing about his day. Sherrie provided a home away from home, teaching Liam to swim, sing songs, cook, and she even helped him catch his first fish. Sherrie is proceeded in death by her parents Patricia Hobgood McCormick and Randell Teitloff. She is survived by step-father Billy McCormick and step-mother Joan Teitloff, siblings Randell Teitloff Jr. (Marilyn), Franny Damron, and Megan Marshall (Colby), the love of her life and husband of 25 years, Eric Engler, daughter Chelsey Edwards (Paul), grandson Liam, and nieces, nephews, and friends.
