Sylvia Kathleen Barnes passed away on April 13, 2020 at Jackson County General Hospital at age of 75. She was born in Hattiesburg, MS on March 6, 1945 to Selby and Vera Parker Herrington. Along with her husband LeHugh, Sylvia worshipped with the congregation at the First United Methodist Church in Milan. In 2011 she retired from the Milan Special School District where she taught first grade and she was an active member of the Elizabeth Stone Garden Club. Sylvia is survived by her husband LeHugh Barnes of Milan, Dr. Bryan Michael Barnes (Aileen) of Gaithersburg, MD, two grandchildren Lydia Joy Barnes and Kira Grace Barnes both of Gaithersburg, MD, two brothers Byrnes Herrington (Bertrice) of Eastabuchie, MS and Mike Herrington (Robin) of Vicksburg, MS and several nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held on Saturday April 18, 2020 at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Sylvia Barnes to the First United Methodist Church of Milan at 2000 Jones Blvd. Milan, TN 38358 or to the American Cancer Society.
