Funeral service for James Maurice "Tank" Nevil, age 67 of Milan, will be held at 12 PM on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Bodkin Funeral Home with a private burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday evening from 5 – 8 PM and on Friday from 10 AM – 12 PM at the funeral home.
Tank was born on September 24, 1956, to Tommy and Joanne Jones Nevil in Chattanooga. He was a graduate of Atwood High School in the class of 1974 and he was a member of the Milan First Baptist Church.
Tank was a very successful owner of his own contracting business where he strived for perfection. Many homes and businesses have benefited from his hard work and expertise.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn Peevyhouse Nevil of Milan, his mother Joanne Nevil (William Moore) of Atwood, a son Anthony Nevil (Amanda) of Milan, one stepson Brian Bartholomew (Geraldine) of Jacksonville, FL, three sisters Sherri Sutherby (Bob) of Milan, Elaine Neill of Madison Heights, VA and Leanne Brinkley of Bruceton and three grandchildren Jacqueline Bartholomew (Taha Chalabi), Elisabeth Bartholomew and Joshua Bartholomew all of Jacksonville, FL. Tank was preceded in death by his father Tommy Nevil.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Milan First Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
