Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Edgar Chester, age 98 of Milan, will take place at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Tom was born in Trenton, TN, on July 21, 1924, to the late Thomas Edgar Chester and Aly Tommie Washburn Chester. Mr. Tom was a member of Milan First Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Medical Corps. Mr. Tom retired from International Harvester in Memphis where he worked as an accountant. During his time in Memphis, Mr. Tom was a faithful servant at Colonial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer for many years. He was never happier than when he was in his garden or when he was fishing. Surviving Family: Daughters - Debbie Chester Ball of Milan, TN and Leah Chester Powell and husband Steve of Memphis, TN Sister - Christine Chester Hardaway of Trenton, TN Grandchildren - Tressa Flowers Floyd, Steven Powell, Marie Ball Jones, and Emily Ball Humphreys Great Grandchildren - 10 Besides his parents, Mr. Tom is preceded in death by his wife Peggy Burrow Chester, a brother, Walter Chester, and a sister Rose Chester McIlwain Smith.
