Obituary

Vickie Lynn Graves, a devoted educator and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 12, 2026. Born in Trenton on November 24, 1953, Vickie lived a life marked by dedication to teaching, family, and her faith.

A proud graduate of Milan High School, Class of 1971, Vickie furthered her education with an undergraduate degree from Union University and earned a Master's of Education from Memphis State University. Her commitment to learning was evident throughout her life and career.

Vickie dedicated many years to teaching in the schools of Trenton and Milan, where she made an indelible impact on the lives of countless students. Her outstanding contributions to education were recognized when she was honored as Teacher of the Year—a proud accomplishment that stood as a testament to her passion and excellence in teaching.

In her earlier years, Vickie’s musical talents flourished as she played piano at First Baptist Church in Milan and served as director of the Youth Choir. Her love for music and faith communities enriched her life and those around her.

Above all, Vickie treasured her family. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. She is survived by her sons, Jake Flippin and his wife Hays of Medina, and Matthew Jetton and his wife Stefanie of Chattanooga; her sisters Tina Johnson of Jackson and Carol Bivens of Jackson; and her brother Ronnie Graves and his wife Mona of Milan. She also leaves behind eleven beloved grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Vickie experienced the profound loss of her son Trey Flippin, and she was preceded in death by her parents, Argyle Wayne Graves and Elizabeth Dillon Graves.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home, located at 2000 N 1st St, Milan, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. 

Vickie Lynn Graves will be remembered for her kindness, her steadfast commitment to education, and the deep love she had for her family and community. Her legacy of compassion and dedication leaves a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
