Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Lois Butler, age 85 of Milan, will take place at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm until service time. Mrs. Virginia retired from Polk Clark Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Butler was a very active member of Northside Baptist Church in Milan. She volunteered regularly at the Mustard Seed. She also loved to paint, and some of her work has been displayed at various local businesses. Surviving Family: Son - Steve Butler of Milan Daughter - Cathy Phillips of Milan Sisters - Joyce Henley of Humboldt, Helen Hannah of Milan, and Carolyn Holthauser of Chattanooga, TN Grandchildren - 2 Great Grandchildren - 8 Great Great Grandchildren - 6 Mrs. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertie Foster Phelps, her husband, Thomas W. Butler, and a grandson, T.J. Butler. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in honor of Thomas and Virginia Butler.
