Funeral service for Virginia Townsend Roberts, age 85 of Atwood, will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 12 pm at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Palmer Shelter Cemetery near Huntingdon. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday from 6 9 pm and on Friday from 10 am 12 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Atwood United Methodist Church and she was a retired waitress. She was born on January 3, 1934 to Bill and Izora Gurley Pendergrass in Clarksburg, TN. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Nolan Townsend and Donald Roberts, a daughter Jennifer Grear and a brother Walden Pendergrass. She is survived by three sons Billy Townsend (Denise) of Atwood, Kenny Townsend (Melanie) of Bradford and Dale Townsend (Melinda) of Atwood, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
