W. C. Gray, age 92 of Milan, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023, at his residence. He left this world surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories.
He was born on August 12, 1931, to Walter and Ora Bell Hurley Gray in Savannah. He retired from the Milan Arsenal, and he was a member of the Woodland Hills Church near Gadsden.
W. C. was known for his warmth, generosity, and incredible sense of humor. He had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around him and could light up any room with his infectious laughter and smile.
W. C. was a devoted parent, sibling, and friend. He always put family first and created a home filled with love, support, and countless happy memories.
W. C. is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bobbie Jean Spain Gray of Milan, two sons Jeffrey Lee Gray (Diana) of Wadsworth, OH and Wesli Shane Gray (Melanie) of Gibson, two brothers Jimmy Gray (Linda) of Atwood and Johnny Gray of Las Vegas, four sisters Mary Sue Thorton of Dyer, Betty Lou Pillow of Milan, Linda Moore of Dyer and Martha Mayo of Atwood, six grandchildren, Chelsea Gray, Meredith Gray Anderson (Jordan), Abby Gray Garcia (Leroy), George Elliott Gray, Spencer Gray (Kristen) and Murphi Gray (Jayden) and two great grandchildren Josi Kayte Gray and Henry Gray and one soon to arrive great grandchild Judah Garcia. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Charles Gray, Jerry Gray and L. Z. Gray and two sisters Famie Gray and Margie Akins.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the Woodland Hills Church near Gadsden at 1 PM with burial to follow in the Double Springs Cemetery near Milan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 8 PM and on Wednesday from 11 AM 1 PM with all visitation held at the Woodland Hills Church.
