William "Bill" Thurman Shedd, Sr., passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Bill was born on July 16, 1939, and throughout his long and meaningful life, he was cherished by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Shedd, who stood by his side through the many chapters of life. He leaves behind his loving son, Billy Shedd (Sandy), and his caring daughter, Teresa Shedd Stone (Gary), who will continue to carry forth his legacy. Bill is also survived by his brother, Edward Shedd (Jane), as well as his sisters: Judy Yoccum (Neil), Lorretta Roberts (Terry), LaVonne Diaz (Lou), and Thelma Newman. In addition to his immediate family, five step siblings mourn his passing and remember him fondly.  He also leaves behind five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

He was predeceased by his father, James Willam Shedd, and his mother, Mary Vincent Prescott, both of whom were central figures in his upbringing. Bill also grieved the loss of his beloved son, James William Shedd, Jr., his brother, Willard Shedd, a granddaughter and a great grandson.

He owned and operated Shedd's Sales and Service in Milan, specializing in car sales and repair.  Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish, especially catching big catfish.

A public visitation will be held in memory of Bill on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home, located at 2000 N 1st St, Milan, TN 38358. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, where family and friends are welcomed to honor and celebrate his life.  Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Bradford.
