Larry Gurley, a cherished member of the Milan community, passed away on May 23, 2026, in his hometown of Milan, Tennessee. Born on August 19, 1957, Larry dedicated much of his life to his work as a machine operator at Black and Decker, where he was known for his meticulous skill and dedication to his craft.
Larry was not only recognized for his professional life but also remembered fondly for his loving nature and his vibrant personality that made him fun to know. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around him, making him a respected and beloved figure within his community.
He was born and raised in Milan, a place that held a special significance for him throughout his life. Larry’s roots and commitment to family were cornerstones that defined his character and enduring spirit.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Misty Mitchell (Lee), of Milan, who carries forward his legacy as a devoted parent. He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Maxwell (Barry) of Oakfield and Magie Auxier (Andy) of Jackson, who have remained close throughout the years. Larry’s grandchildren, Amethyst Beebe and Gabriel Mitchell, both of Milan, were a source of great joy for him and continue to honor his memory.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Jean Gurley, whose partnership was a profound part of his life. His son, Joshua "Bug" Gurley, his brother, Danny Gurley, and his parents, William Ray Gurley and Bonnie Fay Walters Harrington.
Family, friends, and all who knew Larry are invited to pay their respects at the Bodkin Funeral Home located at 2000 N 1st St, Milan, Tennessee, 38358. A visitation will be held on May 31, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed immediately by the funeral service beginning at 3 PM.
Larry Gurley’s life was a testament to the values of love, hard work, and community. He leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured by those who had the privilege to know him. His memory will continue to inspire all who remain, as they carry forward the warmth and spirit he so generously shared.
