Obituary

William "Bill" Welch, age 80 of Milan, entered into eternal peace on October 24, 2014. Bill was born on February 23, 1934, son of the late Walter and Ethel Welch. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Welch; a brother, Walter Welch; son William "Bill" Welch (Brenda) of Jackson; two daughters Brenda Townsend of Milan and Coleen Belvin (Don) of Brownville, ME. He was the proud grandfather of five granddaughters and five great grandchildren. Mr. Welch was in the telecommunications industry and moved his family to Milan from Nevada in 1969. He retired from ITT and Rockwell International. He served and was honorably discharged from the U S Marine Corps. He was actively involved in the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program for over 20 years. Mr. Welch was also involved with Pastoral Care at Jackson Madison County General Hospital for over 15 years and was an Elder with the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Milan. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5 - 8pm at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Milan. His funeral will be at 11am Tuesday at the church with burial to follow in the Double Springs Cemetery near Milan. Memorials may be made to the Milan First Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child program.
