Obituary

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, Zachary Michael David Glisson departed this world for his heavenly home. Zachary was born on August 28, 1987, to David and Suzy Glisson of Bradford. Shortly after he was born, Zachary was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect that required open heart surgery. At 6 months old, Zachary had a successful surgery, but complications arose after surgery which led to him suffering a traumatic brain injury. Doctors told the family that Zachary living a long and meaningful life would probably not happen, but little did they know what a mighty God we serve! Zachary lived 35 wonderful years at home with his parents and his older sister, Emily. Zachary attended Milan Special School District his entire school career until he graduated from Milan High School in 2008. While in school, Zach had so many wonderful teachers and teacher aids who loved and cared for him. Zach also attended Happy Day Daycares before and after school program for many years where he was loved by the staff, especially Mrs. Deborah Deberry and the late Mrs. Emma Jenkins. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Milan where he loved listening to hymns every time he was able to attend. Zach loved music, listening to Milan Bulldog Football on the Victory 93.7, listening to Tennessee Vols football, and watching his light show at night. He loved the sounds of his momma, daddy and sissys voices when they would come home in the afternoon or first thing in the morning. He loved when someone would rub his head, and all his soft fluffy pillows. Zachary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gus Cagle, Helen Cagle, and Rozell Glisson; uncles Raymond Buzzard Glisson, Larry Glisson, Gary Glisson, and Mike Cagle; aunt Connie Gray; cousins Tommy Woods and Jeff Adams. Along with his parents and sister, Zachary is survived by grandparents John and Ida Burroughs; aunts Janice (Jay) Dunagan, Penny (Ricky) Norrod and Pam (Bobby) Reasons, Tyreda Bynum, and Daisy (Shannon) Vaughn; uncles John (Tabitha) Burroughs Jr, David Ray Burroughs; great-aunt Betty Ruth Wyrick and great-uncle Bob (Sarah) Adams, all of Rockwood, TN; cousins Kristy (Bishop) Burkett, Katie Cagle, Rozzy Glisson, Lisha (Brian) Pickard, Kelly (Kyle) Seaton, Jaclyn Baker, Jessica (Andrew) Belew; a very special "Granny" Shirley Tubbs, and Aunt and Uncle Eric and Leah McLemore and nieces Ginny, Layla and Lottie McLemore, along with a host of extended family members and friends. Along with being survived by his family, Zachary has had many years of caregivers who have taken excellent care of him, allowing his family to keep him at home for his entire life. He was preceded in death by a very special nanny, Ms. Joy Koffman. His surviving caregivers are John Brown, Sarah Garrison, Monica Callahan, Jerry Lyons, Maria Doaks, Shunae Williams, Octavia Bond, Emmita Rayner, Kathy Smith, and many, many more that we the family are so very thankful for. Please know, if we failed to mention you it was not without our utmost gratitude. Zachary was blessed to have so many people in his life that loved him dearly and we wish we had the time and space to list them all. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 7 pm with visitation with the family to be held on Tuesday from 4 - 7 pm at Bodkin Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 am at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen two areas they find dear to their hearts, as well as Zachs. Donations can be made in memory of Zach to Northside Baptist Church Childrens ministry, or the Milan High School RISE program.
